Things I Never Buy Anymore

1. Hair Dye: I started dying my hair dark brown 11 years ago. I had to because where I worked had a dress code that didn't allow you to have highlights in your hair. If I didn't change it, I couldn't work there. I dyed it every month. Over 11 years, that was over $1,500 in hair dye alone. I have stopped dying my hair and save the money instead.

2. Mascara: Initially, I stopped wearing mascara whenever I went to the chiropractor. The lights they used always made my eyes water so I would leave the session looking like I was crying. People would ask me, not wearing mascara today? (Actually, I was). People can never tell the difference so I stopped wearing it all together. So far, I have saved $100 in expenses by not using it anymore.

3. Travel T-shirts: I used to purchase a t-shirt, or a couple, every trip I went on. That would range from $25 - $150 each trip. Five years later, I have grown out of them and gave them to friends. I could have saved a lot of money. Instead of t-shirts, I now keep an eye out for a unique souvenir instead. When I went to Palm Springs, I got a road runner magnet for $2. It was so popular, the staff couldn't have them on the floor since people kept stealing them. In Florida, I picked up a post card. I also found magnets, made out of sea shells, in the shape of turtles wearing a hat and sunglasses. They were 99 cents each. When I up North to my friends cabin, we picked up rocks and shells from the beach.

4. Solid Air Fresheners: I would put them throughout my home in every room and then have to change them each month. Over the years, I realized that added up to $600! Now, I just buy a can of air freshener and spray it whenever needed. The change has the same result, but costs me $2 a year.

What kinds of things do you not purchase anymore?
